Doctorable publishes clinical education material for undergraduates, recent medical graduates
and other clinicians. It describes how conditions are generally understood, investigated and
managed. It is written for people who are training to make clinical decisions, and it is not a
substitute for the judgement of a clinician who has assessed an actual patient.
Reading an article here does not create a doctor and patient relationship between you and any
author, reviewer, or the publisher.
If you are a patient
Do not use this site to diagnose yourself, to decide whether to seek care, or to start, stop or
change a medication. Take those decisions with a clinician who knows your history.
If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number
now. Do not wait, and do not email us.
If you are a clinician
Verify anything here against the current primary source before you act on it. Guidelines change,
and an article can be correct on the day it was written and wrong two years later. Every article
carries the date it was last reviewed, and articles carry references so you can go to the source
rather than trusting our summary of it.
Drug doses, thresholds and targets on this site follow United States prescribing conventions
unless an article says otherwise. If you practise elsewhere, check your own formulary.
Who writes this
Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it and links to their profile. Credentials
shown on those profiles are as supplied by each contributor. Contributors include qualified
physicians and advanced medical students, and each profile says which.
